Sheath snap is tight and marked inside with "RAUF CO / MARINE". Sheath has the original ties. This sheath may be a slightly later version than is normally seen in this serial number range.

This knife was supposedly purchased in June 1998 at the Atlanta Blade Show. It was auctioned on ebay. When I won the auction the seller stated that he got the knife from a movie scout and that the scout said it was one of the knives obtained for the movie. The 20th. Century Fox sticker on the box seems to indicate it is either an original prop or a piece of memorabilia made as a presentation piece for the cast members.
The knife looks a bit used and has a serial number of 101673 indicating a 1981 production date. This matches a time before film production started. The sheath is correct for the knife and looks well used.
Although seemingly genuine, I have since learned this knife is a fake. The seller is a person in Germany that has access to a laser marking machine and has sold quite a few fake Mark II's with FBI-HRT as well as Recon, Delta and other Commando/Special Forces markings.
Knife Condition: Handle is in good condition but has some paint chips on the quillon tips and pommel edges. The blade has laser etching on both sides and most of the original satin finish. But there are some sharpening scratches, dings along the spine and a few dark spots of light corrosion.
Sheath Condition: Fair condition with hanger removed and no leather ties.
Box condition: The included box has a plastic covered placard on the cover reading "USS SULACO / COLONIAL MARINES" and the logo of the Weyland-Yutani Corp., one of the fictional corporations in the film. The latch side has a 20th Century Fox label. The inside has a foam lining in the top in which the sheath is mounted. The bottom section has foam lining in the rightmost 2/3 on which the knife lays. The leftmost third section has a small picture of the famous scene in the Aliens film. The center third section has a plastic U.S.C.M. 2ND. BATT 9TH REG Marines decal.
This item would be of interest to a fan of the Aliens movie.
